Become Terra

Selection from “Become Terra”, collaborative installation, 2024 | artist statement

Drawing from the DADA movement, and its controlled randomness, Ken Feingold’s commentary on alternative life forms, and Jean Baudrillard’s philosophical and sociological concepts of simulacra and simulation, our ideas build on works throughout arts and technology history. Using new technology, artificial intelligence, we push the boundaries of what is widely accepted as “art”. Coming from different disciplines, computer science, film, and printmaking, our perspective is multidisciplinary. Our installation features hand printed collages, video projections, a found object sculpture hosting our AI, and custom code that connects human interaction to machine thought. By merging the two cultures of engineering and art, as discussed by C. P. Snow in The Two Cultures, we have not only expanded our available mediums, but also allowed us to go beyond the expectations of a traditional gallery setting by increasing interactivity and immersion.

Exhibited at Synthetic Futures Capstone Show.
